Ways to Get Involved in 2026

Community isn’t something you buy into. It’s something you show up for.

Starting in 2026, the Historic Downtown Gresham Association is removing financial barriers and opening the door wider for businesses, organizations, and individuals to participate, connect, and grow together.

There is no membership required. There are many ways to get involved.

Why We're Changing

We’ve heard from small business owners across downtown that traditional membership dues have become a barrier. Rising costs mean many businesses are choosing between survival and participation, and that’s not a choice we want anyone to have to make.

Our mission has always been connection, collaboration, and community growth. Removing dues allows more businesses to engage, build relationships, and benefit from the events and initiatives we host throughout the year.

Participate in Events

Show up. Be visible. Connect with your community.

Businesses are welcome to participate in HDGA-hosted events throughout the year, including street fairs, seasonal celebrations, and family-friendly community activities.

Examples include:

  • Third Thursday Street Fair

  • Safe Trick or Treat

  • Splash Day

  • Community Clean-Up Days

  • Seasonal and holiday events

Participation is designed to help businesses connect directly with the community they serve.

Collaborate & Partner

Do more together than alone.

HDGA welcomes businesses interested in collaborating on events, promotions, campaigns, and special initiatives that support downtown vitality.

Opportunities may include:

  • Co-hosting activities or pop-ups

  • Cross-promotion with neighboring businesses

  • Participating in downtown campaigns

  • Supporting special projects or initiatives

Collaboration is flexible and based on shared goals, capacity, and creativity.

Sponsor What Matters

Support the work you care about, where it matters most.

Sponsorships replace traditional dues and allow businesses to directly support specific events, programs, or downtown improvements.

Sponsorship opportunities include:

  • Event sponsorships

  • Program sponsorships

  • Beautification projects

  • Seasonal décor or public amenities

Sponsorships provide visibility while directly funding the initiatives that make downtown vibrant.

Volunteer & Get Hands On

Community looks better when we build it together.

Individuals and businesses are encouraged to volunteer time, skills, or resources to support downtown events and projects.

Volunteer opportunities may include:

  • Event support

  • Set-up and tear-down

  • Community clean-up days

  • Guest assistance and wayfinding

No financial commitment required, just a willingness to contribute.

Join a Committee or Working Group

Help shape what’s next.

Committees and short-term working groups focus on specific areas such as events, marketing, beautification, and business support.

Committees offer:

  • Clear goals and timelines

  • Defined roles and expectations

  • Collaborative decision-making

This is a great option for those who want deeper involvement and a voice in shaping downtown initiatives.

Lead or Serve

Step forward when you’re ready.

Leadership roles, advisory positions, and board service remain structured and intentional, ensuring accountability and continuity.

These roles are ideal for individuals and business owners who have the capacity and desire to help guide the future of Historic Downtown Gresham.
