Community Engagement

Connecting People. Strengthening Downtown

Historic Downtown Gresham is more than the businesses on Main Street. It's the people who volunteer, shop locally, attend events, welcome newcomers, and invest their time in building a stronger community.

The Community Engagement Committee exists to build those connections.

Whether you're a natural people-person, enjoy meeting new faces, or simply believe great communities are built through relationships, we'd love to have you on the team.

What You'll Do

Committee members may help with:

  • Welcoming new businesses to downtown

  • Greeting guests at HDGA meetings and events

  • Recruiting volunteers for committees and events

  • Building relationships with local organizations and schools

  • Coordinating volunteer appreciation efforts

  • Promoting membership and community involvement

  • Helping businesses discover HDGA resources and opportunities

  • Identifying new partnerships that strengthen our downtown

Sometimes the most important job is simply introducing the right people to one another.

Collaboration

The Community Engagement Committee works alongside every HDGA committee.

  • Events Committee: Recruits volunteers, promotes participation, and helps connect businesses and organizations with upcoming events.

  • Fundraising Committee: Builds relationships with businesses, community partners, and potential sponsors.

  • Photography Committee: Identifies community stories, volunteer spotlights, and businesses to feature.

  • Youth Street Crew: Helps connect young volunteers with projects, leadership opportunities, and committees that match their interests.

When someone wants to get involved with HDGA, this committee helps them find the place where they can make the biggest impact.
