Bring Downtown to Life

Historic Downtown Gresham comes alive because of the people who make it happen. From family festivals and community celebrations to cleanup events and seasonal traditions, our Events Committee is at the heart of creating experiences that bring neighbors together and support our local businesses.

If you enjoy planning, organizing, decorating, solving problems, or simply making memorable moments happen, this committee is for you.

What You'll Do

Committee members may help with:

  • Brainstorming new event ideas

  • Planning annual HDGA events

  • Coordinating vendors and activities

  • Assisting with event logistics and timelines

  • Decorating and preparing event spaces

  • Recruiting and organizing volunteers

  • Supporting setup, event operations, and teardown

  • Evaluating events and helping improve future experiences

 

Whether you enjoy planning months in advance or prefer helping on event day, there's a place for every skill set.

Collaboration

The Events Committee works closely with every other HDGA committee.

  • Fundraising Committee: Helps secure sponsors, donations, and financial support for events.

  • Photography Committee: Captures the stories, excitement, and memories from every event.

  • Community Engagement Committee: Recruits volunteers, connects businesses, and promotes community involvement.

  • Youth Street Crew: Provides hands-on volunteer support while developing the next generation of community leaders.

 

Together, these committees help transform great ideas into successful community events.

Who We're Looking For

You don't need event planning experience to make a difference.

We're looking for people who enjoy:

  • Working with others

  • Organizing projects

  • Creative problem solving

  • Decorating and setup

  • Planning activities

  • Helping behind the scenes

  • Supporting the community

  • Bringing ideas to life

 

Whether you can volunteer throughout the year or only help with one event, every contribution matters.

The Events Committee plans, coordinates, and supports the community events that make Historic Downtown Gresham a vibrant place to live, work, shop, and explore.

 

Working alongside businesses, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners, the committee helps create events that strengthen our downtown while fostering meaningful connections within our community.

Events We Support

The Events Committee helps organize many of HDGA's signature programs, including:

  • Third Thursdays

  • Splash Day

  • Safe Trick or Treat

  • Pints & Ponytails

  • Community Cleanup Days

  • Holiday and seasonal events

  • Future community programs and special projects
